Fick tips av Sophia: Royalcious om en ny kattras som ser väldigt häftig ut. Den heter Toyger och skall likna en tiger till utseendet. Jag tycker den liknar en randig Bengal, dom har använt Bengaler i aveln så det kan ju förklara saken . Man hittar väldigt lite info om Toyger när man googlar. Verkar inte finnas i svergie än.

Toyger är en kattras som har avlats fram för att efterlika en liten tiger. Dess namn är sammansatt av engelskans ord för leksak, toy, och tiger. Rasen är främst en korsningen mellan bengal och andra korthåriga tabbymönstrade tamkatter. En toyger skall ge ett lugnt och självsäker intryck och ha lång svans och muskulös kropp. Pälsens mönster ska påminna om tigerränder.

Toyger

The Toyger is a medium-sized, shorthaired cat that resembles a toy tiger. The torso is strong and robust. The ears have rounded tips and the chin/muzzle is large with a broad nose tip. The tail is long, muscular and is carried low. The Toyger’s cat is short, thick, soft and feels luxurious. The ideal coloring for this breed is an orange/tan background with dark stripes similar to the Tiger. The coat should be striped with no spotting.

Temperament:

The Toyger (Toy + Tiger) is an easy going feline. Their laid back temperament makes them great companions. This athletic cat loves to be around people. They are suitable for most households and get along well with both children and other pets. Toygers are intelligent and easy to train. They love to play with water much like their wild cousins, the Tiger.

Health problems:

The Toyger is relatively free of serious health problems but make sure you purchase from a reputable breeder and that the breeder has screened for related health problems. Make sure you ask for a written health guarantee.

Exercise:

This breed is active and needs no coaxing to get it to exercise. Provide your cat with ample room to play and run. Make sure you provide a steady supply of interactive toys if it is kept indoors most of the time.

Origin:

The breed was founded by Judy Sugden of EEYAAS Cattery in the United States. The new Toyger breed is a cross between a Bengal and a domestic shorthair [tabby] cat. The aim of the breed is to produce a cat that closely resembles a small tiger, with the even temperament of a domestic cat. The Toyger is a designer breed, is currently still being developed and is accepted by TICA in the Traditional category.
